Århus Sinfonietta brings the Nordic melancholy into focus for Halloween. Together with the vocal group Concert Clemens and the ensemble BaroqueAros they have arranged the concert Mørkeklang featuring Morten Ladehoff's Apparatus Lacrimalis.

Morten Ladehoff says about the piece:

‘Apparatus Lacrimalis’ is the medical term for the human physiological system that produces tears. This system has two essential functions. First and foremost it functions as a mechanical system where tears are supplied to add fluid to the surface of the eye or to wipe away dirt. At the same time the system is also activated by indirect and more emotional stimuli – pain, grief, joy etc. Here you can not explain the physical function of the tears. However, they still have a cleansing effect on a psychological level. This ambiguity inherent in the phenomenon of crying is reflected in the piece. A cold mechanical gesture is combined with a complaining, descending glissandi and blurred fragments of melancholy music from a bygone era.

Besides from the piece by Morten Ladehoff, new pieces by Anna Katrin Øssursdóttir Egilstrøð and Finnur Karlsson will be premiered.
