Nordic Music Days 2012

2012-10-03

Next week Nordic Music Days 2012 kicks off with a programme full of Edition·S – music¬sound¬art composers.

October 10 to 13, 2012 the 124 year-old Nordic festival for contemporary music travels to Stockholm, Sweden and as always Edition·S is well represented. On the opening evening Nicolai Worsaae’s Du hast gesagt will be performed twice by German-born Helene Lang at Stallet in Stockholm City. On October 11 it is possible to experience Klejs & Rønsholdt’s Racer, which is a preliminary study for the spectacular work LoveRacer. The artists themselves will perform the work with help from musicians from Kammarensemblen and Kungliga Hovkapellet at Slussen. And finally, Lars Kynde’s Elephant Heart and Jexper Holmen’s Lullabies will be performed no less than three times on October 13 at Moderna Huset.

The festival was founded in Copenhagen in 1888 and tours every year between the five Nordic countries: Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Finland. This year’s theme is KLINGDIKT (“sound poem”) and invites the unexpected combination of voices and places, rooms and music. It is new music, but also live performances, the theatrical experience of what you hear, lyrics and stories set to music, which is created in the moment and disappears, the sound of the words and pictures of the sounds.

We look forward to 4 days of exciting new music in the great city of Stockholm. Find Project Manager Kat Jarby there and exchange thoughts with her.
