Issuu and Soundcloud profiles now open!
Allow me a personal testimony here in the news column: When I was first appointed president of Edition·S (then Edition Samfundet, i.e. The Society for the Publication of Danish Music) in 1993, one of my first official duties was to inspect the remote stock room. I was still very young and easy to impress – and impressed I was when I entered the 4,000 square feet basement room with printed music from floor to ceiling. 125 years of Danish music history, thousand of titles, tens of thousands of scores and parts, some still wrapped in original heavy duty kraft paper packages in which the had been delivered from the printers generations earlier. I can still recall the feeling of having been handed if not the keys to Paradise, then at least to a vital and inalienable chunk of Danish musical heritage… The smell of print, old stock room, dust and inks is a piece of memory intimately connected to the old world of publishing.
Today I closed this chapter of the story of our now 140 year old company history. We have ended our lease and I gave the keys to the owners. Sad, somehow. But still a great day! We have opened a new chapter. We have finally emptied the old cellar. We have been digitalizing our music over the last year, and are now opening our issuu.com profile to our clients and partners. Here you can read our scores online, either directly from the issuu site or embedded in each work profile on our website. By the end of this year all of the works will be available online. At the same time we have opened our soundcloud profile where a lot of our music is available for streaming listening.
We invite you to dig into the content of an art music publishing house. Be our guest!
