Two months before his official debut concert from the Royal Academy of Music, Allan Gravgaard Madsen has been named as one of nine recipients of this year's Léonie Sonning Talent Prize.

Not to be confused with the Léonie Sonning Music Prize, the Talent Prize recipients each receive a scholarship of 60,000 Danish kroner to be spent on study/working trips. The goal is to further the recipients' artistic development and grow their professional networks.

In the accompanying recipient video interview, Gravgaard Madsen tells of his plans to visit, among other places, New York and Freiburg, home of two ensembles he's currently working with: the JACK Quartet and ensemble recherche.

Last year Allan Gravgaard Madsen received the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Grant for his compositional talent, not long after the premiere of his and Anna Katrin Øssursdóttir Egilstrøð's critically acclaimed symphonic song cycle BEINTA. Later in 2016 BEINTA received a Special Prize from the Danish Arts Foundation.
