Fabel (Fable) was composed at the request of Jens Schou and the Lin Trio. The principal concept in the piece is gemmations and secondary incidents which turn out to be the main concern. With this constant alternation between what is ”important” material and what is not, the piece approaches a formal ambiguity. Pauses become so long that they are verging on transitions from one movement to another. In this situation, what is the musical form?
