This work was commissioned by the Danish Council of Amateur Orchestras. The title forms a music counterpart to the painting by Asger Jorn called ”Brev til min søn” (Letter to my son). One day my little son was playing an improvised motif (e, e-c-d) which is present with various changes throughout most of the work. Overall, the work contains a multitude of small motifs, that are confronted polymetrically and –tonally without hinting at any kind of ”neo”. The individual motifs should be seen as forms that are frozen in their own identity, even if lots of them go through changes regarding register, length and coherence. The ritual and the childish aspects associated with repetition, made me use several ostinati.
