Two festivals to present works by Simon Steen-Andersen
Simon Steen-Andersen is getting a lot of international attention these days. On March 9 a number of his works will be featured at two festivals: Oslo Screen Festival and Biennale Musiques en Scène (Music on Stage Biennial) in Lyon.
Oslo Screen Festival is an international festival for video art happening in Oslo every two years. It runs from March 9 to March 11, and on the first day of the festival Steen-Andersen will have two works performed at a concert entitled Music to See: the video installation Run Time Error and the multimedia piece History of my Instrument for harp, playback, and video. The latter will be performed by the Norwegian harpist Sunniva Rødland Wettre.
Biennale Musiques en Scène in Lyon is a multidisciplinary showcase for musical creation, and it is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The festival opened yesterday, March 1, and will run until March 24 with concerts and events every day with the overall theme Recycling in Music. The Steen-Andersen concert will take place at the Théâtre de la Renaissance on March 9. It is a portrait concert entitled On + Off, where ten of his pieces will be performed by the Norwegian ensemble asamisimasa, an ensemble for new music which has had a longstanding collaboration with the composer.
